The Yoyo Loach (Botia almorhae) is a highly active, sociable freshwater fish native to South and Southeast Asia. Famous for its dark, chain-like silver-and-black patterns that often resemble the letters "Y-O", it is a beloved scavenger that brings immense personality and movement to community aquariums.
These energetic fish thrive in groups and spend much of their time exploring the substrate and décor, making them excellent for controlling algae and uneaten food. They prefer well-planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots and moderate water flow. Yoyo Loaches are hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists looking to add dynamic behavior to their setup.
Ideal tank mates include other peaceful community fish. Provide a minimum 40-gallon tank for a small group, with temperatures between 72–82°F and slightly acidic to neutral water conditions.
