The blue eye albino bushynose pleco is a striking, selectively bred variant of the bristlenose catfish (Ancistrus sp.) known for its vibrant, solid yellow body coloration and distinct, vivid blue eyes. Unlike traditional albino plecos which may have white spots and red eyes, this variant is a uniform "lemon" yellow color.

Key Characteristics
  • Appearance: Features a bright yellow (lemon) body with no spots and prominent, light-catching blue eyes. Both males and females develop whisker-like appendages ("bristles") on their snouts, which are notably longer and more pronounced in males. A "longfin" variant also exists, featuring elegant, flowing fins.
  • Size: A manageable size for home aquariums, typically reaching an adult length of 4 to 6 inches.
  • Temperament: Generally peaceful, making it an excellent addition to most community tanks. Males, however, can be territorial with other males, so providing plenty of hiding places is recommended.
  • Diet: An omnivorous algae-eater that will graze on biofilm and algae in the tank. It requires a supplemental diet of high-quality vegetable flakes, sinking algae wafers, and blanched vegetables like zucchini or spinach. Occasional meaty foods can be offered sparingly.
  • Aquarium Role: Known for being a hardy and efficient "clean-up crew" member, constantly foraging for algae and leftover food on the glass, rocks, and driftwood.
  • Habitat: As a nocturnal species, it needs an aquarium with plenty of hiding spots such as caves, rockwork, and driftwood. Driftwood is particularly beneficial as it aids in their digestion.
  • Lifespan: With proper care, they typically live for 5 to 10 years.
